The Patriot needs auto service…
For my friends looking for auto repair in Winston Salem, NC let me share this with you….
First off, mechanics is not a foreign field to me. I pay people to work on my vehicles because a physical disability now prevents me from doing so myself. I have done much “normal” repairs/maintenance and quite a bit of major stuff. ( swapping engines/trannies rebuilt several engines, valve jobs, brakes, you get the idea, I’m not ignorant of mechanical things).
Carolina Mobile Auto Service in Winston Salem
When I first visited Carolina Mobile Auto Service in Winston Salem, NC I had a fuel pump replaced, after the installation, my fuel gauge no longer worked, but for an additional fee it was repaired. A few months later, the fuel pump died, and as per their warranty it was replaced for no charge, parts and labor. A few weeks later (169 miles or so) and that fuel pump died. After having it towed back in, the only thing they did was hit the fuel tank with a hammer (thinking the impeller was stuck on a new fuel pump), add fuel additives, and charge me $60.
When I went to pick up the truck at Carolina Mobile Auto Service in Winston Salem, NC, it wouldn’t start. The mechanic came out and hit the fuel tank with a hammer again. He pulled out a spark plug and turned the motor over, there was fire in the plug, but it was dry, no fuel. I of course left the truck. After a few days, I was told that it would start every time they tried it and nothing else was done to it.
The saga continues…
Within a week of getting my truck home, the strap that holds the fuel tank to the frame came loose while going down the road. The next day, the fuel pump died again while I was an hour away from home after dark…. On my last visit at Carolina Mobile Auto Service in Winston Salem, NC Tommy told me that I might need to take my truck to the dealer, they were stumped as to what the issue is. The same line I got after they couldn’t fix the miss in my car.
Yes There Were Two Vehicles…
Yes, I also had the plugs and wires changed on my car, there was/is still a miss and they said they were unable to find and fix it. So to date, they have worked on both of my vehicles, and admit that they can’t repair either of them…. I have tried twice to get the $60 refunded for the hammer hitting troubleshooting session, they agree to pay it, but didn’t have the cash on hand….
Credit Where credit is Due
To Carolina Mobile Auto Services credit, after posting a review on Google, I did receive one (1) voice message from Bill apologizing for “dropping the ball” with my issue and wanted me to contact him about bringing the vehicle in for more troubleshooting to figure out the problem. The last troubleshooting was hitting my truck with a hammer thinking the impeller was stuck in a new(?) fuel pump. Why would I want to pay another tow bill (#4) to have Carolina Mobile Auto Service look at it after their complete incompetence so far? Bill admitted repeatedly that they dropped the ball on my issues and that I shouldn’t have been charged on my last visit.
Here is his reply to my Google review:
Response from the owner:
I have called this customer several times and left a message to try and resolve his concern. We have mailed this customer a check for his refund of $60.55. We are sorry that we could not repair the truck to his satisfaction and I have offered to continue troubleshooting his intermittent fuel problem for no charge.

My Opinion of Carolina Mobile Auto Service in Winston Salem, NC
As of today, Thursday, December 22, 2011 I have yet to see this mythical check, I live in Winston Salem NC, just like Carolina Mobile Auto Service, not too far for the post office to deliver efficiently even in the Christmas rush.
The biggest problem I see at Carolina Mobile Auto Service in Winston Salem, NC isn’t that they have an incompetent employee (or 2) but the fact that after posting a review on Google, the owner replied and kinda stretched the truth a little. Mistakes can be corrected, but honesty is very important with someone that performs services for you, and so in appreciation of their honesty, I share my experience even more.
But seriously, my screen name for my review, TruthHasNoAgenda. With a customer that has that as their screen name for an unpleasant review, wouldn’t you make sure you told the truth about the issue?
Caution to vehicle owners with little or no mechanical background or knowledge. Two weeks after the owner stating online that the “check is in the mail“, I have yet to see it….. if a fib is told about a refund of an admitted mistake, what else will they fib about? I’m just askin’……….
